Formed in 2002, LCD Soundsystem brought their own brand of rock ‘n’ roll to the fore, at a time when R&B was dominating the airwaves. Fusing 1960s garage with electronica and art-rock noodling, their impact on the music scene has drawn comparisons with the likes of The Velvet Underground and Talking Heads.
Their unique style of punk-fuelled dance music won the band a string of Grammy nominations, for trailblazing albums, such as LCD Soundsystem, Sound of Silver and This Is Happening. However, following in the footsteps of their punk influences, the Soundsystem disbanded in 2011, after a farewell tour and much to the dismay of their legions of fans.
Thankfully, this isn’t where the story stops. The band released Christmas Will Break Your Heart in December 2015 and a comeback tour was launched, a year later. In September 2017, the Soundsystem released their fourth album, American Dream.
