While Jared Leto might be most famous as an actor in films such as Suicide Squad and Blade Runner 2049, he’s also the frontman for the alt-rock band, 30 Seconds to Mars. Together with his brother, Shannon, the two-piece was formed in 1998, with their first album, 30 Seconds to Mars, released in 2002.
Musically, the band is difficult to pin down. Their sound embraces a variety of genres, from psychedelic rock and electronica to metal. However, by the release of their third album, This is War, 30 Seconds to Mars had fallen into a distinctly prog-rock groove, influenced by the likes of Pink Floyd and Rush.
While for some, the band is just another example of an actor wanting to be a rock star, 30 Seconds to Mars are a respected and dynamic addition to music.
